Sam writes "On Thursday of last week, the City of North Port presented the Land Development Code update to a group of stakeholders.
This update contains many new chapters that will impact the development of the City. Some of these chapters include regulations governing:
* Development of Special Concern
-- these are developments below DRI thresholds that will require a heightened review,
* Developer Agreements
* Public Art
* Activity Center Design Standards
* Urban Design Standards Pattern Book
All of these are important, but the one that will impact the sustainability and livability for all citizens is the Urban Design Standards Pattern Book.
This chapter establishes the architectural style for each activity center, including a new architectural style call NeoPortian, establishes intersections of distinction, requires certain street furniture and much, much more.
All comments must be submitted to the City no later than June 30, 2009.
For more information and to review this rather large document (1,500 pages), call City Hall, 429-7000, for the path to the City's FTP site.
